A Quick Travel Guide
Which airport should I fly into for Busuanga/Coron, and where does it receive flights from?
You must fly into Francisco B. Reyes Airport (USU), which is located on Busuanga Island. It receives domestic flights primarily from Manila (MNL), Clark (CRK) and Cebu (CEB). Limited flights from El Nido (ENI) are also available.
How do I get from Busuanga Airport (USU) to Salvacion or Coron Town Proper?
The most common and recommended way is by shuttle van (shared or private). The trip takes about 30–45 minutes and costs approximately Php 250 per person for the shared van or Php 1,800 to 2,500 for the private van. There are no taxis or tricycles at the airport. Self-drive car rentals are also available at the airport.
When is the best time of year to visit Busuanga to guarantee good weather?
The best time to visit is during the dry season, from December to May. This period features the sunniest weather, clearest skies, and calmest seas, which are ideal for island hopping and diving.
What is the required environmental fee, and when/where do I pay it?
All visitors are required to pay an Environmental Fee of Php 200 PHP per person for the municipality of Busuanga. These are collected at the Tourist stop in Kiwit Road.
When entering through the airport and Coron sea port, which are both controlled by the municipality of Coron, a separate Environmental Fee of Php 200 PHP per person will be collected as well. This is typically collected upon arrival at Francisco B. Reyes Airport (USU) or the Coron sea port before you exit the arrivals building.
Can I easily travel between Busuanga/Coron and El Nido??
Yes, you can travel between the two destinations by fast ferry (4–6 hours) or a short domestic flight (about 25 minutes). The ferry is generally the cheaper but longer option.
Is Busuanga a safe destination for tourists?
Yes, the Busuanga is widely considered very safe for tourists, though standard travel precautions should always be taken, especially regarding personal belongings and boat safety during tours.
What is the local currency, and are credit cards widely accepted?
